Sector Update: Energy - NASDAQ

Referenced Stocks: COP, CVX, UNG, USO, XOM

Energy shares have remained higher into the last hour of the regular session largely on the back of rising crude oil prices, which neared $91.50 a barrel. Crude oil for February delivery finished up $0.49, or 0.5%, to $91.49 a barrel. In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.54% to $38.92. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is up 3.55% to $5.84. The U.S Dollar Index (DXY) is up 0.01% to $80.37. In late-session energy news, several petroleum majors hit a fresh 52-week high today notes TheStreet.com, including Exxon Mobile ( XOM ), ConocoPhillips ( COP ), and Chevron ( CVX ). Meanwhile, shares of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (SNP) are down in late trading as it received state approval to expand its Yangzi plant in eastern China, Bloomberg reported, citing two refinery officials.
