Energy shares are higher in late-session trading as crude futures closed trading with gains, nearly touching $90 a barrel. Crude oil for February delivery finished up $0.45, or 0.49%, to $89.82 a barrel. In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.58% to $38.27. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 3.62% to $5.59. The U.S Dollar Index (DXY) is up 0.11% to $80.72. In late-session energy news, Halliburton ( HAL ) shares are higher in late trading as the company announced today the resolution of a previously disclosed investigation by the Federal Government of Nigeria over bribery allegations, according to a statement from the company. Meanwhile, shares of Ivanhoe Energy ( IVAN ) are off session highs but still sharply higher as the company announced a significant gas discovery at Sunwing's Yixin-2 well in Southwest China.
